I received this message from Douglas Cromarty:

On Thursday the 26th of April 2007 I was on Holy Island.  Unfortunately it was to attend the funeral of the man who I was named after, George Douglas Cromarty (usually know as Douglas Cromarty), born 1927, died April 2007.  He was my uncle and one of the few remaining true islanders.

I had the privilege to attend the funeral of this much loved and well respected man, held in St Mary's Parish Church.  Also attending were my Father, Mr Richard George Cromarty, his sisters, Nora,  Gladys and Dida Cromarty, some who still live on the island.  Unfortunately I cannot remember all the family and their names, but suffice it to say that it was the most Cromartys that I had seen at one time, if only it had been under happier circumstances. I hope that this information may be of some use or interest to the other Cromartys worldwide.
